It's been a bloody stupid day

Actually it hasn't at all...thats from a song, and I just wanted to say it.
But now to get serious...lets talk about peekers. I can't stand peekers. One peeker inparticular really grinds my gears. There is a man that peaks his little head over the counter and around the corner every time he comes in to my bakery to ask if I have made a certain something that he likes. I have repeatedly told him that, "no sir, unfortunately we have discontinued that item." But no, this one is a go-getter and just won't give up. Now I am a baker, hiding in the back, in my little corner baking away and well, thats my "me" time, my personal space. Its like being in a happy little bubble and this guy comes in all sweaty from lord-knows-what bursting my bubble asking the same question that I always have to say no to. He can see the case, can see that this item isn't there. OOO...and his favorite new game...after asking me (again) he has now taken to putting a suggestion in the suggestion box. His plan is that if he just keeps asking and putting it in the suggestion box that I will be forced to start making them again...little does he know he is just fueling my anti-making-that-item fire. ha!

Ok so I am generally not a mean person, just don't peek at me and I will continue making the things you love!

Here is my little corner, with Barista Amelia posing with the eyeball cupcakes I made:

On a very happy note I have the best sister-in-law in the world. I just went to check my etsy store and she bought 2 items from me! I teared up a little, so i just wanted to say thanks Larissa, you made me day! Here she is with my beautiful nephew Micah (wearing the hat I made him!)...he just had a birthday! Happy birthday Micah!!

Drea needs her groove back

So after my last post I skimmed down the page and peaked over older posts. And my friends, after all this time has passed I think I lost a little bit of my posting groove. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I giggled out loud at an old post (more probably because everyday I realize more and more that I am by far the biggest nerd I know) and now...well lets just say that last post was a little lackluster.

Hopefully the pictures of the food will at least leave some drooling, but it seems I need to stretch these old typing fingers and put a little more effort into my poor little blog. Wipe away the dust bunnies and bring back that ol' "dreareneeknits" glimmer that once was!

Ok, that's all. Just wanted to get that off my chest, figure I had to start somewhere :)

**That picture up there is a petit layer cake (maybe 3"), using my red velvet cake that I have finally perfected! Iced with vegan buttercream and drizzled with chocolate ganache!**

A day off!

happy labor day and congrats to all of you that actually got it off! I did, by happenstance, and have been enjoying every minute of it.

After swimming with the dogs this morning it has been a day full of crafting. I've mainly been knitting, and its funny, after almost a year break I have fallen completely in love with it all over again, and my hands haven't forgotten a stitch.

Pom flats! These were one of my favorite things to knit, mainly because I can get them done in a couple hours...and in knitting thats what we call immediate gratification!

I'm also working on a vegan cookbook, so if I'm not crafting, or at work baking, I'm probably at home cooking...

Vegan potstickers! I made the dough homemade as I can never find vegan wrappers at the store. This will be one of the recipes debuted in the first volume of my cookbook zine!

Here is the sushi I have been making at work. I usually just stick with a simple spicy tempeh roll, maki style. But after having a sushi series at class the other night I felt remotivated! Here is a tempeh temaki (i.e. handroll) and 2 pieces of avocado nigiri. I have also been playing around with frushi (fruit sushi), and its amazingly delicious in this texas summertime heat!
